Project Overview
Side return infill extension to a Victorian mid-terrace house. A fully glazed roof with frameless fixed lights transforms a narrow, unused passage into a bright, open plan kitchen-living space. Polished concrete floors provide a clean, contemporary finish.

The Brief
The side return was being used for bin storage and was structurally unsound. By infilling the passage we gained 22m² of usable floor area and brought daylight into the centre of the plan. The structural steel frame allows for a fully glazed roof without visible supports.
Our Approach
By infilling the narrow side passage, we gained 22m² of usable floor area and brought daylight into the centre of the plan. The fully glazed roof uses frameless fixed lights to create the illusion of a continuous sheet of glass, while polished concrete floors reflect light and give a clean, contemporary finish.
